If you put something on your list there is no way you can’t finish it. That’s what happened with Amsterdam. It’s on my life goal list and I intentionally put it on my mini bucket list for this year. So there I was taking pictures in Amsterdam.
How to get there? Two hour drive from Belgium
How Long? One night
Hotel? The toren Amsterdam
Must do: Rijksmuseum, wandering, watching flowers and houses
In a crazy moment I decided to go to Amsterdam and it was a mind blowing experience. It’s high season now so I was expecting too many tourists. I guess I was one of them. On my list where all the ‘typical’ spots of Amsterdam. But I’m not waiting hours to enter a museum. So the only museum I did was the ‘Rijksmuseum’. The entrance is around 18 euros and they have different collections.
Fascinated by nature that I am I loved the parks in Amsterdam. The vondelpark is located in the center and you can find the Amstelpark on five minutes from the center. I liked the Amstelpark more. Oh, and they have a little café where they have delicious pancakes. Taking a stroll down a park or next to a canal that is what Amsterdam is all about.
I’m a huge fan of the architecture in Amsterdam. Did you know that every house there has a hook? It’s because the houses there are very small. So when you have to move your furniture in it isn’t that simple. So the hooks are used to pull your sofa up to the flour you are going to use it. Pretty clever those Dutchies.
I saved the two best thing of this trip for last. The first one is the experience of having dinner in the dark. Ctaste isn’t like any ordinary restaurant. The dining in the dark experience will trigger all your senses. You arrive in a lounge area where there is still light. They will ask for any allergies and make sure that your experience is one that you’ll never forget. I have to say that the service is remarkable! I could eat with my hand and nobody looked weird at me. And drinking from the bottle is allowed! Make sure to book a table in advance.
The last thing that is definitely worth going to Amsterdam for is the hotel. The ‘toren hotel’ is peacefully located at the prestigious Keizergracht. One of the most beautiful canals, which for obvious reasons, is placed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. It’s a charming four star boutique hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Do I have to say more? Let’s start by saying that I stayed in the special deluxe room with garden view features an in-room double Spa Whirlpool bath for a true romantic stay. There was breakfast in bed and champagne upon arrival. What can a girl ask more for?
On that note, Amsterdam I’ll be back for more pictures!
Do you know a place for non-traditional pictures in Amsterdam?
